Our Beginnings
In 1996, our Founder, John Smith, was working for a major HR catalog company. As the Lead Technical Support Rep for their software division, he was responsible for providing software fixes to customers. This was done by copying the code fix onto a floppy and shipping it via overnight courier to the customer. It was an expensive way to provide support. A major bug was found in the software program which required upgrade disks to be sent to all 20,000 software users. The cost to do this would have been well over $250,000. Mr. Smith came up with the idea of creating a Tech Support website and putting the upgrade files on the site. Users could download the files and run the update immediately without having to wait for the disk. Mr. Smith created the website on his own web server, managed the site and provided the download files to the customers. Goodwill between the company and customer was preserved. From the positive experience, Mr. Smith decided to go into the development business and Software Solutions & Design, Inc. was born. Today Ten years later, Software Solutions & Design, Inc. has provided design & hosting services to clients worldwide.
